“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is a wonderful story which includes love, fantasy and comedy. Theseus, Duke of Athens, is betrothed to Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons. Egeus is an elderly courtier whose daughter, Hermia, is ordered to marry Demetrius, but she loves Lysander. Hermia’s friend, Helena, loves Demetrius, but he is no longer fond of her. The four lovers meet in a wood in order that Hermia and Lysander can escape to Athens.

Oberon, King of the Fairies, has quarrelled with his Queen, Titania, and decides to play a trick on her. His mischief-loving fairy servant, Puck, puts magic juice onto Titania’s eyes as she sleeps. When she awakes, she will fall in love with the first living creature she might see. This turns out to be a workman called Bottom whose head was changed to that of a donkey by Puck’s magic touch!

Oberon has also told Puck to change the heart of Demetrius, thinking he would then marry Helena. While the true lovers Lysander and Hermia are resting, Puck mistakes Lysander for Demetrius, which results in Lysander falling in love with Helena. However, with the magic juice, things done can be undone and happiness is restored. In the meantime, Oberon regrets his trick on Titania and tells her it was only a foolish dream. And all is well!
