Lysander’s Plea

Lysander’s Plea from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream The DREAM Musical

“Magnificent, voluptuous and fervently sung melodies”

Lysander and Hermia are madly in love and want to get married. But that is not the intention of her father who tries to prevent the marriage at any cost.
The more Lysander tries to do everything to gain her father’s favour, the more his feelings are unleashed in the hauntingly melodious arias. This is all the more touching for the listener. We realize the melancholic side of Lysander, opening up almost in despair, which is musically represented with the choice of a minor tonality.
